About Project

Growing up around my grandparents, who were fond of books and things of old, like most grandparents. I’d browse through their bookshelves and find these old illustrated catholic bibles. These were no childish-looking pictures; basically, they were compilations of known art masterpieces that, put together, would visually present the entire biblical narrative. And although I didn’t comprehend it all at the time, these stories felt larger than life, mysterious and exciting; my imagination was absorbed entirely.

THE PROMISE is the epic journey in search of the promised Savior. Written by Jason Helopoulos and published by Crossway, I was honored to reimagine and illustrate stories that have shaped the world’s imagination for Millennia.

The art in this book is the compilation of design and art sensibilities found in design, mid-century illustration, animation, comics, physical theater, sculpture, and film. These have been a recurrent source of inspiration for me.

I have always wanted to work on projects that challenge and engage young and older audiences with the larger biblical story, whatever your beliefs are. I hope you’ll enjoy every spread.

Thanks to Josh Dennis for the opportunity. And Dan Farrell for his trust, patience, and support. Also, to the whole team at Crossway for their tremendous assistance during the making of this book.
